Ready for the snow! Picked up a plow last night and a conversion bracket this morning. Cranked the torsion bars, sits level without the plow and about stock height with the plow on and raised. Going to throw a couple sand bags in the rear and call it good. I'll get some better pictures tomorrow, plow is in great shape minus the shitty paint on the board. No rust holes. Probably touch up with rattle can and then have it sand blasted in the spring.

Truck has been awesome with the plow. Already about halfway back to recuperating my investment. Hopefully the snow keeps up like the past few weeks.

And a better picture of the front end leveled out. Been removing the plow after the storms to try and save the front end lol.

Halfway to plow or halfway to the whole package?

PANDA you just crank the torsion bars

Whole package. Entire investment of everything added to the truck to make it a functioning plow vehicle. All of the money is getting deposited into a separate savings account I had dormant for a while, it's buying my 2500 service body in the spring.

what do u need todo with the suspension for plowing?

Torsion bar raise (easy as fuck, just PB blast a week before and turn bolts 6 times around) and I added weight by the way of sand bags (6x70 lbs) to even out the weight. Takes strain off the front end, gives you better traction in 2wd and makes it safe to drive as far as brake bias and weight distribution goes.

I figured that, but wanted to double check as you said you didn't have that many plow accounts

I don't really, but if we get big snow I just post on FB and drive around offering to do peoples driveways. I want to steal one of the signs that the pizza delivery guys use and letter it up with my phone number, then get a PA and play the ice cream man song and get people to look outside and see me

I could've paid for the truck itself by now if I was sub'd out at a bigger company if I had the time off of work.

It was nice out this weekend and I was motivated... Found a black tailgate off an 05 Yukon to replace mine with the big hole the previous owner put in with a trailer tongue.

I've never seen dirtier paint, but, it let me get the part pretty cheap. Shit was literally baked on, not a single solvent I had cut it in the slightest... Buddy needed the glass as well so it worked out. $200 into the whole repair and have a spare wiper motor, latches, etc now as well.

Cleaned with degreaser, followed by 2000 grit, 5000 grit, finishing compound and a DA buffer and then some hand applied Meguires #7. I'm happy with it, just need a new Z-71 badge now.

This is the day I bought it, you can see the hole in the gate lol.

Next is bumpers, PDR a few dents and buff the whole truck. Then as far as paint's concerned it's done (just wash/wax upkeep from there). I'm wanting to get the drivers seat re-foamed and recovered and have the passenger seat recovered as well. Add heating elements at the same time as well.

Yeah, I need to have a spare key made now

Backstory; I locked my only set of keys for this thing in it, running, on the way to the Twin Peaks TCG Party... Pried the hole open and got to the latch and was able to crawl in

fyi if the car is running, or a child is locked in, the cops will come out and help get you in. for the grand prix, they used a wedge block to pry open the door an inch or 3, and a rod to hit the unlock button.

It was in my driveway so it was no big deal, had all my tools. I could've used my wedge too, but, I was trying to avoid fucking up the weather stripping/door.

Ah, yeah I was able to just use the keypad on the garage. It was no big deal, just used the already fubar'd tailgate instead of messing up the door, etc.

I also keep my keys separate for my different vehicles, so, I'm never overly screwed if I lock a set in something. Always have more keys in the garage/house.

Don't you dare get your financial ducks in a row.

It'd get replaced. I'm forever searching for an extended or crew cab 4x4 Duramax with a fucked up 8' bed on it so I can drop a fiberglass service body on it and have one truck be the work/towing/plow vehicle. Essentially this.

I'd rather have a boat and other toys rather than an expensive truck I don't really drive anymore. It legitimately sits in the garage 8-10 days at a time. I still need the towing capacity, but, not every day.

It's a great truck... Has yet to let me down or have a major issue. But as the warranty comes closer and closer to being depleted and me not using it as a DD anymore the last thing I want is something big to shit the bed. These new diesel fuel systems aren't fun, nor do they like sitting. Lol.
