I imagine at least Ron will appreciate this.
I went out to the lake here in springfield to get the battery put back in our boat for the summer (speedboat, not fishing boat) and decided to toss around a couple lures from the shore and docks around our boat house and see if I couldn't catch a bass or two.
Mid day bite wasn't too hot, caught one bass that was a shade over a pound probably, and didn't have any other luck.
Then I went off another dock, casted my crankbait, and got stuck on a rock, tried to let the bait float out of the snag, but it was no snag...
the snag started peeling line off the reel like mad, and I immediately knew it was not a bass.
10 minutes of fighting later, I had a 20ish pound (conservative estimate, couple dudes out there said it was more like 25) flathead cat on shore, 33" long, 23" around, and full of eggs. I think she was on a nest, and defensively struck the lure. Took a few pics and turned her loose.
