Water in gas

A friend picked up some bad gas last week after all that rain. Car is a 2008 Escape an didn't make it 5 miles after filling it. Towed it to the ford dealer and they want $1000+ to fix it. They want to change the pump/sender unit,fuel filter, flush the tank and lines then do an injector cleaning. I think their full of crap why not drain and refill it with new gas then do a fuel filter. What you opinion on this?

Good news is insurance is covering it and gas station also admits they had a problem and gave them a claim number

If someone else is footing the bill I would get all of that done, is it necessary, no.

Wallmart in Belvidere. I guess you get what you pay for. I want to see if they step up and pay for this they did admit they had some water get in their tanks
