Micro Center’s advantage there, is that you have to show up in person to pick up the product. So if you show up and ask for 32 cards they will look at you strangely

They also increase the price after the first item for popular new release products to curb the scalping. Sure they'll sell 32 cards to you but the extra markup isn't going to make it profitable.

So... this 3080 is $699 and is 70-90% faster than the 2080?

I have been out of the PC game for way to long... How much faster is 2080 verses 1080?

3080 is about 50% faster than the 2080, and 30% faster than the 2080ti.

The 2080ti after proper drivers, (not at initial launch) is about 50% faster than a 1080.

the key point here, is it is only $700... we were all expecting 30% increase in performance for $1200 (which is kinda what the 2080ti was)... to be $500 cheaper for THIS level of performance is absolutely insane.

There are talks and rumors of a 20gb 3080 (allegedly a 3080ti or 3080super) that will be coming out in the next 6 months that may be priced around $1000 bridging the gap between the 3080 and the $1500 3090

Whats the average life expectancy for a laptop? In my case a HP Notebook Intel Core i7 8th gen pretty sure its a SSD if that helps.
If not what other info is needed?
Mine is going on 4yrs old and knock on wood no major issues, doesnt appear to be slowing down.
Just wondering if I'm on borrowed time?
Keep it clean and renew the thermal compound I would say at the 5 yr mark and knock on wood, probably good for another 5 years if lucky and only using for light duty.

8th gen is not that old

Get you a 3070 in a month. That would be a HUGE upgrade for you. The rest of your system is boss.

Almost had it! Was in my cart and then the site gave me issues when I hit proceed to checkout.

You and about 20 thousand other people. Im still trying to get one from like 5 different sites. Still nothing. BB shows one here and there and they are gone before you can get them into your cart. I almost had a 3090 yesterday from BB. Went all the way to pay in checkout, then it hung. Reloaded the page after about 5 minutes and the cart was empty and the stock was gone. Fucking hate this.

And then today some reddit user found in the process of checking out, the Nvidia store was showing someone elses email and CC number already prefilled in the field. They screen capped it and posted it on reddit. Then people were coming out of the woodwork saying they were seeing similar stuff on the Nvidia store. Nvidia took the store down for a while today after that...

So, decided to upload some screen shots from Control since its simply a gorgeous game. The lighting is phenomenal.

My gaming PC plays this locked at a solid 60fps with graphics on maximum with all RTX and DLSS enabled. DLSS is amazing. If a game supports it its an instant on for me. It looks just as good as native resolution. All of these screenshots are 3440x1440p, taken from my gaming PC which is just a i7-4790k + RTX 2080. At these lower resolutions I'm definitely more CPU bound.
