Recently went to Ireland for nearly 2 weeks for our honeymoon. We've been there before, so this time around we didn't hit *all* of the touristy places that you typically would.

First hotel room - Cannemara Sands. This was sweet, as it was a full apartment/suite with a full kitchen and two bedrooms upstairs:

First Guinness of the trip:

Driving there is my favorite part, even though most people find it stressful. The backroads are usually one (small) car-width wide, twisty, with walls/shrubs/etc close to the side of the road. 80kmh (50 mph) speed limit with lots of blind corners and hills. If you run into oncoming traffic, one of you has to back up until there's room for the cars to pass each other:

Sheepdog demonstration. These dogs are awesome. They respond to both voice commands and whistles, and only move when he calls them by name or with their unique whistle. They also have commands for left, right, forwards, back, etc. It was crazy how he was giving different commands to different dogs via whistle to get them to round up the sheep and corral them into different spots:

Our second hotel, and our favorite. This was our second time staying here. Ballyseede Castle in Tralee (Co. Kerry). Built in the late 1500s. I highly recommend staying here.

Cliffs of Kerry. Not as substantial as the Cliffs of Moher, but still pretty badass:

Another beer in a small town called Sneem at a bar called Dan Murphy's Bar. We developed a nice system where I sat in a bar and drank while she walked around the town and shopped. It was a great system:

Ladies View in the ring of Kerry. The rain and fog reduced visibility, but still badass.

Our rental car. Ford Puma - 1L Ecoboost with a mild hybrid system and a 6-speed manual. It was fine for driving for a couple weeks, but I'd never own one. The Ford "EasyFill" filler neck worked properly at exactly zero fuel pumps in Ireland.

Barrett Castle (my last name is Barrett) in Cork. It's been in ruins since the 1600s, but I had to take a special trip to see it:

Johnstown Castle - Also really cool.

Awesome trip man! Truly believe Ireland is one of the best places on earth to visit.

I have the same picture from the ring of Kerry from one of my trips.....

It definitely is. Literally everywhere you go is picturesque. And the driving is a blast once you get out of the cities.

We didn't get to hit as many back roads this time around due to weather (biblical rains/flooding for two of the days) and scheduling. Here's a few pics from the last time we were there:

I am with you....I find the driving kind of fun once you're used to it after a day or two. I also have the exact picture of Kylemore Abbey LOL (the white castle)!

Awesome thanks for sharing. I find that local driving takes a little bit to master but we can, I have in the Netherlands, South Africa and Italy. Italy was the hardest.

Did you fly 1st class or Business Plus?

They call it business, but on Aer Lingus business and first class are the same thing. The were semi-pods with lay-flat seats - very comfortable.

a lot of cabins are eliminating first class, so you end up with something like "business first" or some other branding (polaris for united) while first gets eliminated. at the end of the day the big upgrade is that seat. and they can fit more in the same space they'd put less first class seats plus first often is sparsely sold. i don't usually spend the extra points on it but i've been the only person in first class on multiple trips. for those airlines keeping first, they are also competing on going over the top with the space now, where you end up with little suites and rooms and shit even on some of them. eg. this craziness
