How are you using your phone to pay?

I have an iPhone, added a Chase card to my Apple Wallet. The phone uses NFC for wireless payment like the modern credit cards have. Really only used it once when I forgot my wallet at home.
So you can do contact-less transactions, like hold the phone near the card reader?

I could see that.

But anyway, so if my card is loaded to gpay and my NFC is on. I just need to unlock phone and hold it to POS?
Pretty much what I do. I have it set so that when the wireless pay (tap to pay) is activated on the phone it requires some kind of verification. With my current phone (iPhone SE 2020) that means fingerprint. So when ready to pay, hold up phone to POS reader, wait for the phone to recognize it, wait for authorization (fingerprint), use finger, it authorizes payment using the stored card. Pretty much the same as using "tap to pay" with a credit card, except it adds in a security level.

I keep wanting to try it more, but habit has me just using my credit card.
