We have a corded Dyson that we lug up and down stairs. That couples with the upstairs being carpeted and the main floor is all laminate has me wanting a battery powered unit for to keep on the main floor. That's where the dogs live and our "non-shedding" mutt sheds a small dog every week. $200 isn't bad at all.

I have a Miele U1 Cat and Dog. It is vary heavy and corded but works great. I was considering a Dyson but a few people told me recent models are nothing but junk and they do not make them like they used to. Had mine 4 years with zero issues and love it.
