Looks great James. How are you going to incorporate the bourbon barrel?
The barrel is actually gonna be my sink

Our basement is exclusively a kids playroom but one day I hope to turn it into more of an entertainment room. The previous homeowner had an Owens Corning Basement System installed, which wouldn't have been how I’d spend that money, but it’s steel framing with insulation boards instead of drywall. While unsightly — it looks a giant office cubical — the acoustics seem decent with the thick carpeting and insulated walls.

Well here’s my basement. Started out unfinished until about March of 2020. Covid hit and I had a lot of time on my hands so I began the finishing and completed it this summer. Only things I didn’t do and will never do is the tape/mud and paint.

The only picture I don’t have is of the home gym which is behind the barn door that I will get later.

We still have to get around to hanging stuff up. I’m such a Nazi with putting holes in the wall for hanging things so I told the wife if it can’t go up with a command strip it will not be going up.

Not much but it’s honest work. We’re finishing up the basement at my GF’s house. Last winter she had a fireplace installed. After that we put up the shiplap, I installed the mantle and mounted the TV. We then put up a wall to close it off from the rest of the unfinished basement and I just started building a barn door. I’ll post completed pics in a couple weeks.

Is that ceramic tile on the floor or some sort of laminate? Either way, it looks good. Kinda the color and style of tile we are going to do on our bathroom floor when I get around to demo'ing it

Agreed. We'd like to redo all the flooring in our basement with the wood looking ceramic tiles. When they redid the basment, the part with old ceramic tiles was left as is and the rest of the basement got the standard wood tiles.

It's ceramic tile. It replaced the old laminate that looked like shit. The house in in Des Plaines so at some point it saw water.

We have flooded a few times in 20yrs due to sump pump failure. Every time I wind up paying for new carpet and my Dad keeps telling me just do ceramic. If it floods , we can mop it up lol. If it ever happens again, I'll be going that route
