I'd rather have good content than a faster guide. :dunno:

But the guide should at least WORK...

agreed.

Also, last time I've dealt with Comcast's customer service was about 4 years ago and I felt like I was on hold for half an hour each time and when I went to drop off the equipment, the place in aurora felt like a welfare office...

Now that they have competition, have they changed their terrible customer service ways?

i will say, so far, their customer service has been very helpful and quick to resolve the issues. they came out to install on tuesday. found an issue w/ my wiring and had to bring in an outside contractor. he call me up yesterday, came out around 230...spent an hour getting everything fixed, hooked all my shit up.

the turn around time from finding the problem to fixing it was well within the satisfactory range. received a follow up call after the install as well.

BUT thats hardware stuff....we'll see how good their service is now that i'm a full time customer.

how long was it giving you trouble after the setup? it takes forever for everything to update.. like a few hours maybe? But if it's been way long then you'll probably have to turn everything off/unplug the power and replug everything in and wait an hour or so before turning it on. This literally happened to me Monday. Fun Stuff this comcast.

so we just had comcast put in the new place (i would have preferred someone else but the condo units are only wired for comcast)...internet works great, the cable itself works fine (tho the guide is taking forever to fully update) but the On Demand service does not work. I get an "error 7", which apparently means no IP address is being assigned (to either box, its happening in both rooms).

This is apparently a fairly hot topic among comcast xfinity customers with no fix seemingly out there. I power cycled the box(s) once last night and I guess i'll try a longer power cycle today when i get home before calling up comcast.

Anyone have any similar issues?

(ive been reading up on this world wide web and most people's responses are "power cycle and see if it fixes it". super helpful :hsugh:)

I used to have some problems wih on demand and some hd channels when I had cable. I believe the problem lied in the actual cable. (I had older cables running from the pole to inside my house.

Not sure if it's the same for you but your best bet is waiting for a while until a tech can do something. It's probably something on their end that's causing he problem. :dunno:

cable was installed around 330 yesterday. on demand hasnt worked since.

Ahh, yes that's much too long. Call or try the turning off and on to see if that does anything first. I have to say, calling Comcast makes me want to punch walls. If you can get the automated customer service, all is good. If you get a person, your day will be ruined. Mark my words... RUINED

i just hang up when i can tell the person on the other end is a moron and try again. There are some good CS reps there, its just few and far between.

I would wait it out a day or two and then call them and tell them to come fix it if the problem continues. Keep an eye on those Comcast guys though. They hire some shaaaaady people. My friend in Aurora has had to have Comcast guys come out multiple times. Every time it's a different person who is creepier than the next. Unfortunately his female roommate is always home alone too when the guy comes and him and his gf are never there. One of the times they were there I got to his house before he did and she saw me and had me come in and sit there with her cause the guy was making creepy comments towards her. He even started thumbing through a stack of pictures she had sitting on the counter that she had just got developed :ugh:

Call customer service and they'll send a signal to the box that should kick it on, it's happened to me a couple times. After they do that let the boxes sit for 45 minutes without using them. I had comcast for years and just switched to uverse late last year. Internet speed and picture quality are the same, but with uverse my ondemand always works and I never have to reset the cable modem, so I'm sticking with them for now.
