Ok so here's the situation. We bought our 67in. DLP samsung a while back, and was a great tv. However the main board on it has gone out on it a third time, we've had repair companys come out and have always taken it in and re-placed it, it was never the bulbs.
So in our warranty contract the lemon law thing now applies. It states that after the second repair if it fails they will replace the tv.

Here is what they're offering as a replacement:

Or the other option is they give us $1,300 to spend on one we'd like.

Can anybody help me out as to whether or not this is a good TV, or help me find a better tv for that price?
I really liked the DLP samsung that we had, this is for our main family-room and I'd like to keep it around a 60in. because we usually have alot of people around for football nights.

I've never watched anything on a DLP before, maybe a long time ago I saw one running at a best buy, but never at a home... how is it compared to a LCD/flatpanel or plasma?

Are they looking to spend more than the 1300 offered?

Idk, TVs are getting really cheap and I think they could get a larger plasma/LCD or something along those lines for a tad more money?

I agree on the mistu being crap. We had a mitsu before the samsung and that's what replaced it. We recently bought a Toshiba Regza LCD and it blows it out of the water, but its in a different room and smaller.

Right now it's looking like we're going to be taking the 1300 check. They just said they were ok for spending another 3-400$

If you are looking into switching to an LCD, there is a great deal going on at Best buy right now (only in stores i think) on any 46"-65" Sony W, Z, or XBR Bravia Series LCD TVs when you buy a 120GB PS3 or Blueray player. You will save at least $750 with this deal. I think they also include some Samsung TVs with this. To top it off you can put it on a BB credit card for 3 years interest free.

The best buy deal is on the W, Z and XBR series only. The amazon deal is on the V series which has a few less features and a lower contrast ratio than the W series and higher. BRAVIA series LCD TVs in general are pretty nice, i know a few people who have them and love them.

I just picked up a 46" Sony Bravia W series from BB with a 120gb PS3, a free BR movie and game, and a 4 year extended warranty, plus free delivery for around $1400 otd. Without the warranty it would have been about $1200 otd. Normal price for the TV is $1699 and $299 for the PS3, not a bad deal at all. Go check it out.
