So here is my tracking spreadsheet for energy monitoring for my house.

EM is energy Monitor. Energy is KWH. Power is Watts being used when the snapshot was taken.
Comed is my Rainforest Eagle Gateway which is linked to the meter as I have a smart meter.

Whole House is a clamp meter on the top of my main box
Hot Tub is attached to that subpanel
Air Conditioner is on that breaker
Garage is attached to that subpanel
Welder is is in the garage subpanel and is what the Volt plugs into
Its called Welder because it is a 6-50r which is the outlet commonly used for welding
You will notice the whole house clamp meter and the gateway tied to the meter don't agree. I think it is a delay in reporting coupled with the fact that clamp meters are not 100% accurate. Honestly I don't need it to be perfect as I am not chasing individual watts.
There are a bunch of other columns of stuff I track to the right. This spreadsheet gets an entry every minute. I just look for a wattage spike in the power column of welder and then find the difference in the energy column to see how many kwh I used for the charge. So this morning to charge the car it was 1.3kwh... We didn't use it much yesterday.
The best days to look at will be Wednesday and Friday morning as Tuesdays and Thursdays I drive the car to Itasca and the whole battery is used. I wish there was a better way to track daily electric miles so I could compute mileage easier. I'm going to have to start logging that for comparison.
PS Hot tubs use a bunch of power.
