3800 NEWB ALERT!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! (and gurlies?? Never can tell on these things)

I was reading about your meet on the 6th..... Is that open to anyone with a GP? (hint hint, yes, me!)

If so, uhhh, what should I bring. I'm not much of a beer drinker (makes me unsociable due to low rumbling tones from my uhhhh, "exhaust"). But I can bring a lil something something fer y'all......... (patentent summer mix)

Anyway, let me know. Although the GP is not my race car, I am still a mod nut..... :)

What is your other car that you work on?
79 Mustang Notch....... It's getting the Big Block, suspension, not for driving to work anymore Treatment..... Single digit ET's, here I come!

Right now it is the typical "Rustang"..... however, it goes under the blade this spring. I am hoping that by next year it will be done. All 1200Hp of it...

Welcome to the worlds greatest grand prix club

There will be a few of us in the club doing single digits.
I have seen a lot of people try to go singles in a FWD car, and I just don't think you can get a decent launch out of them.

I know there are cars that can do it, but those are dedicated race cars with a TON of money put in them, and a a severe trade off for reliability. The other issue is the transaxles. When you start putting that much torque into them, they start breaking parts. Unlike RWD trans stuff, they are not readily interchangeable, and there really aren't any that are designed to take over 800ft lbs. that I have heard of. That is why the Honda's are able to do it. The motors put out lower torque numbers, but unreal HP numbers. They then put an already light car on a diet, and whalla, they are making all their power up top in a rolling cas can with an ear piercing exhaust.

A GP is by no means a light car, so the power/weight is going to be a little off.

Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt that it can be done, but at what cost?
