Hit "the pond" on my way home to wait out traffic. Fishing was slow today. Went half way around the lake throwing a white mepps #4 with no bites. Put that rod back in the car and grabbed a drop shot rig. Snagged this bass after about 20min. "Biggest" one I've gotten so far out of this lake.

What do you guys have for tackle boxes/bags?

I've been getting away with a couple large, deep Plano boxes. Accumulating enough stuff that I regularly use that it's starting to become impractical. Been thinking about a backpack style since I'm mostly bank fishing and ease of carry is important. I need a couple boxes for hard baits, one for terminal tackle and something besides a grocery bag to keep all my plastics and some line.

I use extra Large Plano boxes for bigger baits and some Cabela's soft tackle box's that carry more of the Plano boxes. Blue bag has everything I need to shore fish for anything from Panfish/Bass/Pike/Musky and Salmon.

Not bad! you caught more than me. I lost a nice fish probably low-mid 40"... it spit the hook when it went air born. I couldn't tell if it was a big Pike or a Musky as it was just getting dark.

I even brought minnows to try and catch some crappie or walleye on slip bobbers while I was casting for the muskies. No dice. Well I gave up pretty early trying to keeping the minnows out of the weeds. I lost a $25 bait and of course it had to be a new one. The leader must have been too fatigued... Oh well you gotta pay to play it happens. Lol

I literally use just normal backpacks. Right now I'm using an old Jansport. Has plenty of little pockets and storage. Then I use varying sized Plano bins, organized by type of lure; one for spoons, one for plastics, one for hard baits/cranks, one for buzz baits and V-spinners, and one for rooster tails, chatterbaits, and little trout type stuff. Usually grab 2 maybe 3 of those in the bag and walk around.

I use spinners here and there. I have yet to catch a single fish with one

Crank bait is my go to.

Jigs catch anything and everything. The ultimate bait IMO.

Must be using them wrong or something... They always catch me Bass and Northern, always. I mostly use them on top just below the surface. As soon as it hits the water on a cast I reel fast at first and keep the rod tip up high to keep the spinner right at the surface with blade making a small wake. Rod tip up the whole retrieve. Very effective plus you will get to see the strike!

This spinner is a good size (Strike King Midnight Special 7/16) . Some times I run it medium or deep . Other times I throw it along the rocks and burn it across the top . It really depends on what area and structure you are fishing .

Today I put some new line on my baitcaster , and was throwing it long distances and retrieving medium/fast to keep it running above the weeds , just under water surface .

I'll run it deeper if they won't bite on top but I always start at top because predatory fish naturally feed up and you can Trigger the active fish when the water temps are warm plus seeing them hit at the surface is so much more exciting! I will even drag them over Lilly pads sometimes and get em to bite.

I've tried shallow. Deep. Medium. Left right side to side. Lol. Nothen. Nada. I do better with buzz baits or chatter bait. Caught a northern at mallard on a chatter. I mostly stick to jigs or crank bait or the notorious senko.

Seems to be very heavily policed. Not that I'm poaching or fishing with a license, just seems like I'd get harassed a lot.

It's a 300 acre lake . You have family on the lake . As soon as a security boat finds that out you'll be all good . Tiny lake , they will remember you .

The lake is well known , so that's why security is up so the general population doesn't ruin it .

Fair enough. Now I just have to find out if I need a boat permit for my kayak...I haven't seen yes, but I haven't seen no either.
