Default Simple furnace reminders

just cycle your furnace, make sure it works before panic nite...change air filter/humidifier filter/change batteries on smoke detector & carbon monoxide detector etc

I can possibly help u on some parts if ya need 'em

just a simple heads up that we should all do

Just changed my filter and started it up, was getting chilly in the house.

awesome thread...especially cause

so my furnace keeps turning on and off

it turns on for like 30 seconds then turns off and repeats.

I changed the thermostate and it's still acting up.

Ideas?

Fiancé and I were just taking about this today. We recently bought a house with radiant heat and a boiler. Gonna have to figure out how to get it going here soon.

lol I also have radiant heat and boiler, going on 6.5 years and haven't turned it on, servers and networking gear do the same thing lol, curious if any maintenance should be done or if this thing will explode some day if tested

Good advice. Prevent fires and CO poisoning.

Like Mike says, I will change my filters and get ready to turn off my A/C. Furnace won't go on for another three months, if at all.

I just remembered that my smoke detector went bad and I haven't replaced it. To the Prime!

remove front cover: vacuum all the loose dirt, clean the blower wheel, clean out all the condensate P traps, check that the combustion air inlet/outlet are clear.

What about the actual burners / jets? Should I run a horse hair brush through them?
That's what I used to do on my old furnace, just to clean out all the white gas residue or whatever that crap is.

I can't figure out where the filter is in my unit. I need to dig into it this weekend and figure out how to access it.

@Dasfinc
This is all you. Let's hope we don't have the same issues as we did with our AC this summer.

The HVAC guy tested A/C and Heat while he was doing the install, and we have a brand new filter as of last week, we are good
