River has been dead. Almost like it was closed. Won't be full open for MDW.

The gates are open in McHenry and Algonquin. Even if they had means to lower the level faster the water has to go somewhere. They can't just flood everyone south of Algonquin more.

Is there a better website to check lake levels and discharge water through dam? I use the FWA app.

So you are saying they are moving as much water as they can right now to lower lake levels? Yea I understand they cant risk flooding out homes on lower river or those south of Algonquin Rd. I would think they would want to try and get lakes open for the official start of boating season this weekend. Lots of revenue at stake.

Water level is right at the top of the break wall for some of the houses opposite of Kief’s. I always see families standing in their backyard probably just thinking “3rd flood in a 100 year flood plain, huh?”

Shits fucked yo

Isn't this like the 8th MDW in a row where the chain is at least no wake? I pretty much target the 4th of July as time to launch the boat.

I'm saying flood gates have been open on the Algonquin and McHenry dams for a few weeks now. They are not holding back any additional water or can lower levels on the chain o lakes system any faster. What I am saying is if they had a way to lower levels faster the water has to go somewhere and that will most likely result in more flooding to people down river.

The lakes will be full open before the upper river and then lower river by nature as they are upstream. Remember people boat on the lower river also as well as Elgin, St. Charles and Aurora. Plenty of revenue at stake all over the Chain of Lakes and Fox River system due to high water levels.

I want to say MAYBE lakes come MONDAY. But Id say a week for all 3 zones to be full open. Saw someone post this on LFRB not sure how factual it is but the profile does say she works for FWA. Take the boat to Lake Michigan and run it hard.

Quote:
Just a little insight to the water levels and when the NO WAKE restrictions can be lifted:

The Lakes (Zone C) need to go down
approximately 6”

The Upper River (Zone B ) needs to go down approximately 7”

The Lower River (Zone A) needs to go down approximately 18”

I hope this helps.... feel free to share

The FWA had no business opening the Lower for unrestricted boating on Sunday night. Lakes yes. Lower no way. The river is so high boat wake destroyed my floating waverunner pad setup. 3 of the 5 supports ungrounded and two extra support cleats with rope attaching the pad to my dock ripped right out of my dock. Part of this is my fault for not engineering this setup for the hurricane force waves of Memorial Day under flood conditions but this is still bullshit. Had no issues last season. Then I have garbage, debris, and muck all over my rip rap and into my lawn from the high water levels and waves. How much time and money is this negligence going to cost me to rebuild and clean up? They don't give a fuck about safety, property owners, and erosion. Its OK though. The winey bitches got to boat unrestricted on Memorial day, the "hurting" businesses got revenue and this broke ass state still got sales taxes. I'm stuck with property damage.

fuck

It was Saturday night they lifted no wake, and yes i agree water was still to high but i was out around 7:30 that night creating wake. I went out on Sunday morning around 8am, perfect water conditions. Went back out around 4 and it was a shit show so didnt stay out long. Went back to marina and watched all the idiots run there bimini tops into grass lake bridge, pretty entertaining. Sorry to hear about your pier, but we all knew there was noway they were gonna stay no wake for the entire weekend.
