Do I need to replace my brakes?

I recently installed some hawk brake pads with a buddy of mine, and the pin that goes through the caliper keeps falling and rubs against the rotor.

I always push it back into place, but after driving for a bit, it will fall back against the rotor, and while driving, make constant high pitches rubbing noise(metal against metal).

Any ideas on how this can be fixed, or what I need to do?

Did you remember to put the C-clip back on it?
If not, it's going to need one.

Pretty sure you can just go to any hardware store to get one.

Hmmm. I'm not entirely sure. I know that a few days after we did the brakes, my buddy showed me a little ?spring? that said is for the old brakes.

So, just a standard C-Clamp would do the trick?

my vote goes to the c-clip also...mine has a little washer and a c-clip idk if that makes a difference or not..

I just did mine a few weeks ago and their is definitely a c clip that holds it in place.

Standard C clip will hold the pin in place. Pull out the pin and bring it to an auto parts or hardware store to size it up. How about the other side? Is the clip on there or do you need two?

I think the clip is in on the other side. It has not moved an inch since the brakes were changed. It's going to be a PITA to get the rim off and take the pin out.

why? the pin should come out almost instantly if you dont have to take the c clip off..

Wouldn't I have to jack the car up and remove the rim? Even after I get a new C-Clip, won't I need to have the wheel off?

Yes you need to remove the wheel...i was confused at the PITA part of that?...

it shouldnt be too bad to add that c clip in...maybe 15 min... I would recommend getting more than one for a just in case measure. Hope this solves your problem!

When I still had the stock Cobra brakes, I used to put the pin in backwards so the c-clip was easier to access.

Made it simpler to change the pads at the track.
