So first time to the track with the solid axle in the car, and solid axle felt great. Went to do 2nd gear burnouts and got them ok nothing phenomenal about them, but enough to get the rocks off and get them a little warm. first pass the car went:

60' - 1.92
1/8th et - 8.9269
1/8th mph - 78.91
1000' et - 11.6247
1/4 et - 13.8859
1/4 mph - 100.20

run sucked ass but was excited that for the first time ive taken my car down the track in over a year i was .01 off my best 60' ever with the irs.

Second run, thought i hooked a little better until i got my slip

60' - 1.9388
1/8th et - 8.8168
1/8th mph - 80.10
1000'et - 11.4601
1/4 et - 13.6902
1/4 mph - 101.31

Third pass was alot better Finally got a better burnout :burnout:

60' - 1.8618
1/8th et - 8.6920
1/8th mph - 80.62
1000'et - 11.31
1/4 et - 13.5269
1/4 mph - 102.49

Felt alot better about that run, but I am not MPH'ing for shit. When I had the IRS i ran 13.1 @105 With the better 60' i should be trapping at 108-110.

After we left the track i took my car to my buddies house and checked a few things, on my diablo predator my spark on 2k-4k and 4k-7k was at 0 and my fuel was at 1.5 towards the lean side in both rpm ranges.

Also my main concern is we went to check a spark plug and when we pulled the cover off to get to the plugs all the coil on plugs were loose like they dont press onto the spark plug. when we pulled one coil off it was all covered in oil. and the plug was saturated in oil too. not the side inside the cylinder head just the part where the coil goes onto the plug. Im thinking possibly valve cover gasket? :dunno: Checked the dipstick and the oil was about an inch over the max line on it.

Took about a quart and a half of oil out of the car so the oil line read just under the max line. Car does not show any signs of blowing smoke out of the exhaust.

Do you think too much oil, being too lean (i think) on the predator, or a combination of the two could lead me to not trap anything over 102mph?

Sorry about such a long post Thanks for taking the time to read it and give me some input.

typically, when you spin at the line, you get more wheel speed which will result in more MPH at the end.. basically, if you 60ft better, your trap speed normally drops or stays the same (not goes up).. also, by putting in a solid rear vs IRS, there is a good chance you will loose MPH as well as a solid requires more HP to turn vs an IRS..

The oil on your plug is caused by a bad gasket for your spark plug hole. Every hole has a circlular gasket that prevents oil from pouring on your spark plug. The good new is they are inexpensive to replace but the bad news is you have to take your valve cover off to replace it.

Just comparing a slip from when i had the IRS to a slip from yesterday with the solid. Weather was perfect yesterday Cool but Sunny Slight tailwind. Perfect Day weather wise at the track.

Solid Axle IRS no Brace
60' - 1.8618 60' - 2.0200
330' - 5.6148 330' - 5.7219
1/8th et - 8.6920 1/8th et - 8.7299
1/8th mph - 80.62 1/8th mph - 83.02
1000'et - 11.3169 1000'et - 11.2960
1/4 et - 13.5269 1/4 et - 13.4450
1/4 mph - 102.49 1/4 mph - 105.35

Trap speed is of by a few but seems like et's are better till the 1000' mark Could be differences in shifting, less wheel spin with the irs (more with the solid, breakin them off in second every time and 3rd a couple times) both slips tires were between 16-17psi

Tires on both slips were 275 Bfg drag radials, IRS times were with almost bald drag radials, Solid axle times were with brand new drag radials.

Mike my guess, being that I've driven the car, is that slow shifting and a weak launch are doing it. That trans is a PITA. Plus, on motor i would still 60' in the LOW 1.7's with my old car all day long when I did a big burnout and launched it HARD. If you can't do 2nd gear burnouts, just hold it in first for a LONG ASS TIME and launch it above 5500. This is what it would take to get the ET down but IMO that trans is on borrowed time so launching that hard might not be a good idea. You won't trap 108 mph as it sits no matter how hard you drive it. Maybbeeeeee if it was PERFECT conditions it would hit 105. Larry (gnxs) will tell you that a solid axle doesn't make the car faster unless you go from a stock gear to a 4.10 or a 4.30. You had 4.10's in it before.
