h-pipe help

ill prolly be getting long tube headers really soon but the only thing is i would need to buy a new h or x pipe to accomodate them. is there a way or do u know of any trust worthy shops that will modify my current h-pipe to fit long tubes? just an idea

They are much cheaper without those pesky cats.

You need a shorty prochamber.

You could get yours cut and red welded to fit the long tubes but it would most likely be cheaper to get a new one

but doesnt that kill you for emissions?

what the gain from going to an x pipe rather than h or visa versa, is any brand better than the other.. if i get a mac catted h will it change the sound?

Get rid of all the cats ASAP! And no it will not kill emissions as long as your CEL is not on. I have passed emissons with a few cars with no cats :cool2:

Yeah get rid of the cats, and get MIL eliminators. As long as the C/E light is off and it dosnt throw any codes your fine

The cats wont make it sound raspy. Its the style mufflers you use that will give you the rasp sound. And who cares if it smells without the cats a little bit

idk im just worried about losing the sound my exhaust has, if the headers make them louder idc but i jsut dont want to lose the sound ya know..

as far as emissions go, for 1996+ vehicles with obdII diagnostics as long as your check engine light works and you have no dtc's in the system you're fine. if they visually check (not likely) then tell 'em you bought it like that, and you'll have 3 months before you have to go back and show 'em cats. :headbang:

talk to Andy (green99svt) he could save ya about $70 on the mils. He knows how to make 'em out of resistors and capacitors.

Longtubes alone will change the sound. An x or h is personal preference on sound. As said above, as long as you have no CEL then you can pass emissions without a problem. You are lucky to have an OBDII.
