Should I really have to worry about them right now? I am still pretty much stock. Aren't guys running low 11's on the stock irs? I am sure they are putting out 100+ rwhp/rwtq more then I am.
I ran 11.4 @ 124 with stock drivetrain and never broke anything. You just have to learn what the car can and cant do. I have never broke anything in the drivetrain before and I have never ran the car without a DR :biggthump

So many people with these cars think that all those bushings and all that other BS takes wheel hop away! In my opinion do an IRS brace and a good tire and run that mother down the 1320 :burnout: How many people have really gone out and launched there car hard over and over again to see what it can do... Theres not many and I know I have and I have not had any problums with anything in the IRS or drivetrain

It's basically a crap shoot. Some 10 second cars on the stock 1/2 shafts and other people breaking them at stock HP levels. Wheel hop will kill them fast, but not getting wheelhop doesn't guarantee they'll survive either.

I'd get an IRS brace if I were you, especially with the MTs.

Ditto... I have a stock IRS with the IRS Brace and have 100+ hard launches (60+ with the MT DRs) at the track.

Ur talking about the brace from bullet flow right? I am looking into ordering it right now. I think that I am just going to pay someone to install it for me I don't have a lot of free time. Are the stock sub connecters that bad that you need to replace them? Aren't they hollow?

Yes the billetflow brace is what I am talking about. (I believe everyone else too, because its the best period!) I am not sure if the stock sf are hollow, but they are just bolted to the frame with 2 bolts each. Maximum Motorsports offers a great flsfc set that get welded on in their place and help the tires hit the pavement. I haven't put my Billetflow brace on yet because I'm gonna order 4.10 gears for the rear and do everything at once. Also check out the website I shot you before about wheelhop. I blew a hole in my differential cover before I got Doug's brace. It's great insurance against blowing the cover apart.

Verts have bolt on sub frame connectors. Coupes have none. SFCs really tighten up the car. I noticed how much smoother my car was in high speed turns. It doesn't wallow as much after the SFC install.

Edit-Welded on SFCs are the way to go. Yank the bolt ons and replace with welded on SFCs.

I am on my 6th Half Shaft. It depends on how much VHT the tracks are using. When you run in the Big Meets, they use a lot of VHT and if you are the first ones on the track with stock IRS you are going to break if you launch too hard. I have more than 300 logged runs since 2002 on a 2003 Cobra.

Level 5 half shafts. I knew I forgot something... :D

Are you still running stock halfshafts, Harvey? Or have you upgraded?

The behavior and characteristics of the Cobras' on and off track differ in some respects and are common in others. My drag experience feedback as compared to Nile is that I launch easy and he launches hard. I am on my 6th half shaft and he has not broken any. We both run 11's. He High and me low :dunno: :dunno: .
