25 gallon tank?

36 gal I guess! But it takes 87. I'ven been meaning to find out if its able to sense the octane level in the fuel like the 5.0 does. The 5.0 actually changes the tune based on the fuel it finds in the tank!

New 36-Gallon Fuel Tank on 2012 Ford F-150 EcoBoost 4x4 Lets Customers Drive Up to 756 Miles on One Tank of Gas

2012 Ford F-150 EcoBoost® 4x4 now comes standard with a 36-gallon fuel tank
With an EPA rating of 21 mpg highway for the four-wheel-drive model, the F-150 EcoBoost 4x4 now has a driving range of up to 756 miles between fill-ups, the best in the industry
DALLAS, Sept. 29, 2011 – With its new standard 36-gallon fuel tank, the powerful and fuel-efficient 2012 Ford F-150 EcoBoost® pickup can drive nearly the entire length of California – from Oregon to Mexico – on one tank of gas.

Responding to customer demand, F-150 EcoBoost now has a driving range of 756 miles between fill-ups. That long-distance highway cruising range is designed to save F-150 drivers time by reducing stops for fuel.

“We know the majority of our customers use their F-150s daily for work or play. It’s an essential tool that enhances their productivity,” said Doug Scott, Ford Truck Group Marketing manager. “Reducing downtime for fuel stops can help them do their jobs more efficiently or get more out of their leisure time.”
I'm not sure it'd hit 756 highway miles unless I was on cruise on perfectly flat highway @ 60 mph the entire way.

I also have a "rule" where 1/4 tank is empty. I never let the tank go below 1/4.

Quit scrutinizing my math! Either there is a lot of distance left under 1/4 tank (IIRC the dash said >200mi until empty), or... shit if I care. Gas by me is cheap. I think I paid 3.4x a gal?

Wut? That is 21 mpg per gallon. If you use the whole tank.

Dan, track your mpg per gallons used. I am sure we are all interested to see what your observed mpg is.

I know gas is cheaper I was just wondering if it was THAT much cheaper. I know I get hosed where I am.

And... What Pratt said!

The dash usually claims 15mpg avg. I'm certainly still pretty heavy on the skinny pedal too... its just too much fun!

I don't do much long distance cruise driving, but when I do, the dash shows instant MPG as >20mpg almost all the time when I'm driving nice. So I know its capable of getting up there. There are folks online who claim seeing 25mpg avg highway on long trips.

I'll have to start logging my mileage manually. Trip from filling up last claims high 16mpg IIRC.

I think Ford has been underrating their MPG numbers or the new EPA numbers are a little more inline with real life. I mean I got about the EPA on my last trip in my Fusion, in the middle of winter, with the cruise control never set below 80.

756 miles may be the best in the segment, but definitely not the industry like the press release says. VW Passat TDI can go 795 miles on an 18.5 gallon tank.

Regardless, 21 highway mpg is impressive for a 4x4 truck with the capabilities of the Ecoboost.

Here's a test our PickupTruck guys did with two Ecoboost trucks, one towing a 9,000 pound trailer and the other unloaded.

I remember when the ecoboosts first came out everyone was bitching about the 26gallon tank, while the non ecoboost trucks you could order with a 36. It made towing a real bitch i guess, cause you'd have to fill up like every 200 miles.

Ya, we've contemplated getting a truck to tow our horses, but at this point we really don't need one. so why spend the money.

Most say about 13-15mpg towing. 10 at max capacity, maybe.

Not only does it do all those things, it makes them look easy and its amazing inside. Super smooth ride and tons of creature comfort items you wouldn't find in many luxury class cars, let alone any other pickup out there...

Ya, I like the red too... but it was just too flashy for me. I wanted to be a bit more low key in appearance. I do want the grill in the one that Joe's place tested though!

What I hear is that mileage suffers a bit until around 4-5k miles - perhaps due to break in? I'm looking forward to seeing avg #'s over 20mpg! Turbos are supposed to become more audible between 5-8k too.

I think that review was the worst possible case for towing. Max weight and they were going through some serious terrain.

Prevent you have horses??? We bought our Suburban hoping to start towing my wife's horse. Paying someone just costs too much and since we get plenty of other use out of the tow vehicle it is a no brainer. (Winter DD for me, dog mobile, home improvement)

Yes, 2. my sister might buy one so that would make 3... right now their friend has a Chevy 2500 and a trailer but it gets tiring asking all the time. Plus a towing vehicle means i get to use it too for the bikes

My wife rides a Saddlebred and shows at least twice a year up near the IL/WI border. It is 250 each time si we are looking into doing it ourselves. My wife also likes trail riding so this would give her more flexibility to where she can ride.
