Someone has finally wised up and combined the body of the original 5.0-liter Ford Mustang with the horsepower of Ford's 2011 Coyote 5.0-liter mill. The combination comes courtesy of Georgia-based Kurgan Motorsports, and, as one might imagine, it's a beast.

The engine fit right between the Fox Body's fenders without any cutting, but Kurgan needed to fabricate custom motor mounts, along with air conditioning and power steering brackets to hang to the engine. Custom Kooks headers keep the gases flowing the right way, and a Tremec T-45 handles the added twist.

Though the car is certainly impressive as it sits, Kurgan says there's a supercharger in the works.

The current Race Pages magazine has a nice article on this. Goes into depth on the Ford "Control Pack" which is basically the ECU, hot rod harness, labeled connections, power distribution block, air box, oxygen sensor, air intake. Jesse of Ford Racing says they treated the Boss, FR500 and Cobra Jet as a kit car. And that the Control pack was designed to be installed into any car by the average user.

They go into the Hydroboost over the '11's electric steering and brakes. And also the custom headers and exhaust from Kooks. Very cool article. They also drop the hint that a T trim will be on the car soon.

also, Jesse @ Ford Racing is very in tune to the average customer. He is at a lot of the races, shows and even builds a car when he has the time. He asks guys they sponsor, racers and show goers for suggestions on their products being developed. Between that and the Ford engineers they make sure the product hits the market ready to work.

When I get updates from Kurgan I will let you guys know.

What do you want to know? His response to the Unions hating on his 60 billion bonus? lol

Brian Wolfe was the main reason the cars like the Cobra Jet, FR500, Boss and parts like the Control Pack came to be. Brian was a LONG time racer that ran Fords. Having some one like that working with the engineers is a huge bonus. His years of experience and being a gear head helped build some of the best Mustangs ever built.
