Supercharge Options

Hey guys i have a 2002 mustang gt and was really considering supercharging it. Ive done alot of research and saw the options of eaton m90s or the kenne bell 2.1l. I also know you can get a terminator kit or a vortech or procharger. I was wondering if anyone knows what the best route is. I really am trying to keep it cheap as possible Thanks

M 90 is too small for your motor. You'd be fine up to 3000 rpms and then run out of breath.

A centrifugal kit is going to be easiest and cheapest and also go a little easier on your drivetrain. Vortech or Procharger are best for what you are asking for, IMO.

Cheap and Forced Induction dont go very well together.

That being said, what do you want? High RPM power or instant Torque? Go with the Centrifugal is you want the former and a Twin Screw is its the latter.

Approximately what is the cost for a Vortech or Procharger complete with install on a 2002 GT? I just royally smoked my wife in her 2002 GT with my Cobra at a stoplight the other day and ever since then she's been on the warpath for more power.

Just looking in the Corral classifieds I spotted a few complete kits for under $2500, figure install and tuning on top of that cant run more than $1000.

Look for a slightly used kit. I bought a Vortech V1 S trim tuner kit with 4,000mi on it for $2,000. Then added a new powerpipe, belt, custom breather catch can, svt focus pump, aem wideband gauge, boost gauge, and NGK TR6 plugs. Used 39lb cobra injectors, 90mm lightning maf, and SOS dual gauge pillar. After install and tuning it came out to about $3800. The catch can, powerpipe, and gauges are not a necessity. Without those parts it would've been $3200. You can add a cxracing intercooler to the Vortech kit for around $250, and labor shouldn't be more than an extra $200.

Buy a new svt focus pump and some NGK TR6 spark plugs for around $200 and you're set. Chad is a great guy and is well known on chicagolandmustang.com. He has worked on many forum members cars and his work is top notch and he performs the work for super cheap.
