What happened?

Dropped the pan to change the gasket and discovered this plug thing. Put it back together and as soon as we filled it that plug started gushing. Aka the plug is not there. New pan necessary.

is it a black rubber plug that sorta looks like a tophat?

then that trans was in a junkyard at some point...thats how they drain em, skewer the pan, then plug it.
if it was a white ball on a stick with an oring...thats the oe dipstick hole plug that gets pushed into the pan during assembly on the factory line

We were all out of gum and duct tape and most of the stores were closed.

I had thought about letting people know what we were up to but I did not want to make an event out of it. Maybe next time.

I figured the tophat was from someone draining the pan with a vengance, but it had held fine for the past 2 years

Of course because I happened to breathe on it, it decided to let go as we were refilling it... Anyone know where I can just buy another one of these tophat things, I'm just trying to have one last hurrah, and apparently the car gods have other ideas.

I felt so terrible, you have no idea...

10:10 rolled around, and it was like "Well, that's done, Lets take a look at those wheel bearings" and then I put the fluid in and it was coming out as fast as it went in...
