Manual people: neutral or first while sitting at a light?

When stopped at a light do you put the car in neutral and keep your foot off the clutch or do you put it in first with the clutch pedal pushed in?

I had a discussion about this at work the other day. The argument was that it'll wear out your throw-out bearing prematurely. My thought was that it's been taken into consideration and it should be replaced with a clutch anyways.

Neutral here. But that's becuase I'm lazy and don't wanna be holding the clutch in. But I would agree with you on that the bearing has been taken into consideration.

Why would the pilot bearing be prematurely worn by holding the clutch down? Thrust bearing MAYBE, pilot bearing though? Not so much.

Depends on the situation for me, but I'll do either or.

I generally keep it in first cause otherwise I'll forget till after the light changes

Why would anyone sit at a light for 3 or so min. with there foot on the clutch?

If I'm stopping at a light that's just turned red then neutral it is. Generally that doesn't seem to be the case for myself; it's maaaaaybe 30 seconds usually.

i'm a little bit country, and a little bit rock n roll. I pay attention on the cross traffics signal, so if i just come to a red light i'll be in neutral. If i see that the light will turn soon i'll leave it in first. You have short clutch travel in that Rubiroo, so you can afford to leave it in first.

It depends on the light timing, some are faster than others so I'll just stay in gear but if its a long light then I'll keep it in neutral.

I also keep an eye on the rear view just in case the driver behind me decides to come to an abrupt stop so if they get too close I can move forward.

I think i see what you mean but i still don't shift into first till i see green or the car in front of me start moving.

I always have it in neutral, especially in drive thru lines or when I'm behind someone. Mainly because I don't won't to worry about slipping off the pedal, I'm lazy also, so it works out better.

Yea I like my clutch and pedal....minus the high engagement. If it was lower it would be great. It's got the perfect amount of tension too
