"What would you do" Downgrade/Upgrade

For those who watch my antics, I have a 2001 Taurus SES right now

I can easily get 2300-2500 out of it.

Between tax and other income I have about $3500 'on standby'

I ALSO have right about $3000 in credit card debt looming over my head still floating from being unemployed last year....


The question is:

Sell the taurus, and take about $5k to find myself a 540i, or (Insert car here)

or buy myself another civic to putter around in to use in the rangers down time and for winter, and pocket the $1500 difference from the civic/taurus, pay all debt, and have money to play with on the ranger while remaining 'debt free'


It looks like I'm going to go route B because its 'the responsible thing to do' and I'll still have 2 cars, and be debt free... But a 540i is mighty tempting.... or what else can I get in the 5K range thats about a 2000 or newer and be a solid DD with some kick and hold its value well.

I had a GT-40 and a GT-40P motor, I ended up keeping the GT-40P longblock and sold the heads off the GT-40 one, and still have its intake available.
