General question for everyone. Is an Automatic transmission with 6 speeds (same as a manual) at a disadvantage from a roll race against an equal car with a manual 6 speed and why?

I'm of the opinion that a standard auto (non dct) isnt as strong from a roll. And I base that solely on the cars Ive owned.

This is of course the manual driver is a competent one.

You haven't owned a 6 speed auto. How/why would it be slower than a manual from a roll? 10-20 years ago, autos were bad from a roll because they had 4 gears. Once a 4 speed auto hits 3rd gear the race is over, that isn't the case anymore.

Depends on the gearing, plus manuals are lighter and put more power to the pavement . Therefore on paper the auto is at a disadvantage.

I'll give an advantage to the manual for those reasons, but an auto is very formidable from a roll nowadays IMO. It'd take a hell of a driver in equal cars to win the race IMO.
