Trading in?

Ok im getting my car ready to take my car into the dealer maybe within the week for a trade in. My leather is well taken care of so its all good. The carpets are fine they just need a good vacuum. Im going to clean up the doors, dash, etc myself. Im taking it into a shop to shampoo the interior roof cuz my dam kids and thier fingers. I could just have a shop do all this for me but im trying not to put any more money than I have to. So my main question is should I spend the money to get the engine washed? I mean is that really going to matter on what they are going to offer me for the car? Input please

I don't think it matters how good of condition it's in. They just look at the numbers in the books. I wouldn't spend any more money.

True, you'll be able to negotiate more of an increase in value than a super clean car will get you

I only believe in a full professional detail for private sale. For the dealer just get it clean yourself... Spray the engine just to make it look a little better bu no need to go crazy, they are going to fuck you over either way.

i would clean the car to the best of my abilities and with the supplies that i have. but i wouldnt go over the top and get it professionally done. as emerson said, they are going to fuck you over regardless.

the last two cars i traded in they didn't even look. Glanced would be the best way to describe how they looked at the car.... Both were very dirty.... And both times I got more than I should... They really don't care... Clean just makes it easier to see the imperfections.

i would only go as far as hitting it with a splash of water and drive it up there. they are going to detail it anyway if they buy it so save the cash. even if its super clean i bet you'll get the same offer.

yeah, my bimmer was as white as jared's tbss when i traded that in and I had written "POS" across the valve cover in thick permanent marker back when the car was out of order and i was just pissed at it. still got $2200 for a $500 car
