With the rising gas prices and all, I've actually gone out and test drove a few possible new/newer car choices... so far this is the current list I'm considering... any feedback would be greatly appreciated... heard bad/good things... i don't care, I'd appreciate hearing it all... thanks in advance...

1. Pontiac G6 GTP Coupe 3.9L (21/29 MPG)
2. Pontiac G5 Coupe (fall 2006) (27/35 MPG)
3. Scion TC Coupe (22/28 MPG)
4. Mazda 6 (18/26 MPG)
5. Audi A6 2.7T (twin turbo) 19/27 MPG)
6. Mercedes C320 Sedan (18/27 MPG)
7. Dodge Stratus R/T Coupe (20/29 MPG)
8. BMW 330ci Coupe (18/27 MPG)

All those cars are girl cars! I dont belive a A6 is Twin Turbod. According to audi they have a V6, and V8 version only. Your probably thinking about the Twin Turbo older S4's. But if I had to pick I would get the 330ci, but it does come with a big priice tag.

The v6 A6 is "bi-turbo" aka twin turbo.

I would get the Audi over the rest for the Quattro and mod-ability. I would shy away from an Mazda 6 unless it is with the Duratec, the one I drove (4 banger) everything felt cheap, and plasticy.. GM interiors own compared to that car. The engine was pretty noisy, very weak, and the auto-stick crap was piss poor slow.

I agree with J/O. Your GTP should get just as good as those cars.
Have you actually taken a calculated reading on you MPG? Pump in xx amount of gas - drive xx miles. As people have said, don't rely on your DIC. And as other people say, our DICs have a mind of there own. LOL!

However, with that list - I would pick the Audi A6. Downside to Audi - BMW - Mercedes is the cost of repair. Oh - by the way, that car takes premium.

If your really want more miles per gallon, you will have to pick from a different list of cars:
- Honda Insight 60 / 66
- Beetle Diesel 37 / 44
- Civic Hybrid 49 / 51
- Prius 60 / 51 <-- better MPG in city? wow.

You're probably shaking your head.
Oh I see... You want a car that doesnt look like a gas sipper, goes somewhat fast, AND has good MPG. That hasnt been made yet! :lolsign:

You can paint it black and white and almost feel like you are taking one of those gay work cars home.

went over to the dealership today before work and picked up a brochure, checked out the 2007 G5 Coupe and the G6 GTP Coupe... I'm 6'2 and to be able to nicely fit in the G6 with the seat back as far as I needed, power pedals, telescoping steering wheel, onstar, heated seats, 18" chrome flangless rims and so on, I'm really starting to like this car... Monday comes test driving...

However, I still say it's crap that this vehicle wears the GTP badge, yet has no supercharger to show for it!!

I can recommend you NOT buy the Scion tC.

I owned a 2005 tC and it was a nice little car for what you pay. The panoramic moonroof is a classy touch, the seats are great and the car handles quite well. The tC is definitely an attractive car and has a smooth, reliable powertrain. Not paying for premium gas is a nice incentive, too.

However, unless you opt for the $4,000 (installed) supercharger (which you can NOT finance through Toyota) it's just too slow. I went from a 1998 GTP sedan into the tC and within 9 months/12,000 miles I was trading in the tC for my 2004 GTP sedan. I just missed the luxury and effortless power of the boosted six when compared to the frenzied driving necessary to keep the tC's 4-banger in its "fun zone." I also very much missed the "toys" like HUD, heated leather, and steering wheel audio controls (that last one has been added for 2006 on the tC but leather is not even an option). Fuel economy is also nowhere near the advertised 30mpg... I averaged just under 20mpg, the same I get in my GTP.
