depends on alot of factors.... and differs by cars.

I got 11KR and im not dead yet....

not necessarily HOW MUCH kr.. but HOW INTENSE the kr is.

1* can make it go boom. Knock retard isnt a measure of knock per say, as much as it is a measure of your PCM's attempt to prevent knock. So having 11* of KR doesnt mean that he is having more severe knock than a guy with one, it just means the computer is having to pull 11* of timing in order to prevent the knock. If you have one ping at the wrong time then you could theoretically destroy your engine before your PCM can do anything. Its usually considered dangerous above 5* though. Severely dangerous above 10*.

The only number you should feel safe with is 0. Any knock can chip a piston given the right circumstances.

Don't compromise with knock. There is no acceptable level.
