3800 Changing trans fluid

Hey someone told me that since I have 112,000miles on my car I might not want to change the trans fluid cause the GM trans might take a shit after 2,000miles since I changed it.... Is this true?? h34r:

yeah it happens often. on high milage trannys if the fluid was never changed

if you've never changed the fluid before you hit 110K then there is a chance that you will start to notice the tranny slipping and not shifting correctly. this is due to that over the course of the 110k miles of the car sludge builds up in the tranny as the fluid gets older and older. The sludge begins to "hold-stuff" togehter, so to say, and if you flush that sludge and old fluid out the "parts" that the old sludge was holding togehter is no longer there to hold them togehter, so tranny goes kaput. <-- Best explanation i could think of lol

i would change it personally.
if all thats keeping it running is the sludge, you are better off rebuilding the trans anyway.

I think that Jiffy Lube can do trans fluid and a new gasket for like $40 or something....
I could be wrong though cause it's been a while since I paid someone to change it.
