3800 Quick question about PCM

Monday I am taking my car to Villiage Pontiac to get some work done on it.. ie.. fix a/c level, fix motor on seat, and other useless stuff. Now i may be totally off on this, not even in the ballpark, but if they see that my PCM is reprogrammed will they say or do anything? should i be worried about this at all?

they won't see

They'd have no reason to read the PCM unless you were getting a repair due to an SES light or something... and even then they wouldn't see that your PCM tables have been modified...

If you went in for an issue PCM related they'd prolly reflash to the stock tune but even in that case I bet they'd never even know it's been modified

So simple answer... don't worry about a thing

if for some reason they do flash it, just let me know and i'll take care of it. i'll be locking the new pcm's in the near future and i can add this change to your programming if necessary. This will prevent the dealer from over writing it.

if you bring your car to a dealer and the problem is you need a PCM reflash.. if they try to reflash but you hav eit locked... wouldn't that be a problem?

Also if you lock your PCMs then you'll be the only one that can modify it right? (w/out restoring the PCM to stock)


what purpose does PCM locking serve?
