3800 Gauges?

I am wanting to get some gauges soon. I am probably going with the autometer Z-series. Anyone have these? Do you like them?

Also which gauges should i get? I was thinking tranny temp, boost, and oil pressure. I am sticking with only three for now. Do those sound good, or should I look into other ones? Thanx

i just got a boost and knock. well, i will be getting a knock gauge soon. my knock is crazy, i got it as a friendly reminder to keep my foot off the gas.

Where did you put yours. I am planning on making a custom pod where the ash tray is.

I picked the z-series, because they arent real expensive but they look good.

i was checking, i've got some old pics but they're blurry. i'll try to get a couple new ones tomorrow. i think they match the stock gagues best.

Tranny temp is pretty useless if you ask me. INTENSE says that our trannies dont really ever fail due to heat.

I'd go with knock, boost and oil pres.

I have oil pressure and Air/Fuel, and I could do without the Air/Fuel ratio guage. Oil pressure is a must though.

iliveonnitro - I dont think I really want to spend the money on a knock gauge. I have a ls1m already, and do frequent logs with that. Is there anything else besides oil pressure and boost that I should get then?

I pulled the ashtray and bracket out tonight and was looking at everything. This looks like it will be relatively simple to hook up. I can post pics once I am done, if anyone is interested.

Also, is there a paint color I can get that will match the interior of the car best? I have a dark navy blue/black interior. Has anyone found a paint that matches it well, or the actual paint color? Maybe at the dealership or something?

Get whatever you wish for the 3rd guage if you dont need the knock. Hell, get a volt meter for the battery if you wish. I like my A/F ratio one since it moves a lot, but it's pretty worthless otherwise, esp if you have an LS1M.

Well I guess if there is no real need for a third gauge, then I will just do two guages. Cheaper anyways.

Anyone else think there is a good gauge I should get for the third?

the knock gauge will light up the led's when the car is seeing knock. the more led's that light up, the more intense the knock is. I don't have an a-tap so, it's good for me.

How about the Gauge that are car does not come with... VOLTS!!! I found out the hard way that i needed that.. damn subs.

i have the 3 gauges your looking at and even in that series. john and i made them glow red at night if you want i can also take pics during the day and at nght and post them up if you want to see them. i am very happy with the gauges i have. like dole's mine are in the triple a-pillar gauge pod.

I tried several red bulbs but for some reason they started to fade and turned orange so for about about a month I had installed some 194XR from toucan Eurolite which uses gases instead of heat to make the light.

I have volt, tranny and Knock in my car I like the knock but it doesnt light up like the others do and thats my fav thing at night when they light up pretty! I think you guys are forgetting an important gauge TRANNY ! lol but all are good Air/fuel doesnt really have a purpose except looking cool.... and dole the light cover things are bulb condoms LOL

A/F is very important. at least to me. it lets you kow alot when your at WOT. another thing it does is let you know when that sensor is going or is bad, and also it will let you know if you have a vacuum leak at all. it lets you know a couple two, tree tings
