I hate to make a dumb point but the 2JZ was considered fucking bullet proof at ignorant power levels. I mean it may just be shit talk but BMW engines don't really have that rep.
They are more like heartbreakers. They are awesome when they work, but BMW needs to get away from plastic...it's usually the root cause of most issues, and it doesn't help they run their motors at 10 million degrees. After a few years all the plastic starts getting really brittle. Always breaks when you ask for it's loyalty...just replace parts a lot and they are fine...lol
The inline 6 (non-m motors) will take a serious beating without a sweat. It's all the BS attached to it that goes.
