anyone else pinpoint the problem? This math add up?

Community Unit School District 300, which includes Spring Acres Hills, saw its enrollment rise by 15 percent from 2005 to 2015. But its local property tax spending rose faster-- by 49 percent, from $125 million to $190 million per year, in inflation-adjusted dollars.

In Geneva Community Unit School District 304, local property tax spending jumped 35 percent from 2005 to 2015; enrollment rose six percent over the same period.

In St. Charles Community Unit School District 303, enrollment fell two percent between 2005 and 2015. But local spending rose 29 percent in real dollars.

Batavia Unit School District 101 hiked local tax spending 46 percent; enrollment was flat over the period.

Collectively, Kane County’s nine school districts spent $1.072 billion in 2015, up 28 percent from 2005. Enrollment rose eight percent over the same period.

It's all rediculous...

- My taxes have gone up by 17%
- My healthcare coverage shot up around 35% (and it's shit coverage)
- Fuel is always going up
- regular groceries are going up
- Vehicle costs are going up (all around, whether it be to buy new or maintain what you have)
- We get tolled everywhere.

and on and on,

Yet my income has only gone up a couple percent, IF that. I joke that if I worked hourly, as a burger flipper, I'd actually make more per hour and probably have better healthcare coverage than working where I do now on salary.

Since its such a big deduction on federal/state income taxes, those taxes are absoutley minimized which is the only way to justify it long enough to head west. :noes:

You basically think of the tax dollars going local vs federal/state.

How much does it affect your tax refund? Not asking for your actual private numbers but this will be our first year being able to write them off.

Should be around 6800 in taxes, will it get me a decent amount back?

Slave free

I completely feel like a slave  2k/month in property taxes alone?

The reason I jumped into this house was I bought it 35-40% lower than the original build/sold price, I expected the taxes to adjust at least 20-30%? That doesn't happen when all the values fall, assessed rate lowers but tax rate increases to cover the same tax levi's and the increased spending.

Just looking at my Schedule A now...

All of it, along with mortgage interest paid.

You're not getting a refund, but it is part of your deductions on schedule A (most likely if you're doing it, it is part of the itemized as that is greater than the standard deduction), reducing your Adjusted Gross Income, therefore reducing your taxable income.

True, I was more or less asking if it actually affects what you potentially get back as a refund from the Gov a lot or not really.
