Do you guys still talk? How'd the first meeting go, if you've had one?

yes, we still talk and see each other somewhat regularly now, she only lives a couple of hours away.

the first meeting was kind of like a first date. we had talked via facebook a little, but not a ton, so we knew of each other, but the first meeting we really sat down and got to know one another. we are extremely alike so after the first few hours everything seemed normal once we got to know the real other person.

As I do not have have advice to give as it looks like there is a lot of good advice given.

I'm glad you have the opportunity to connect with your parents. I can only imagine the void most feel not knowing them, the questions they have, possible sense feeling, lack of self worth.

Even though I know my parents, and I'm close to my mom. My dad is a turd. It's taken me many many years to finally get past the point of hope and accept who he is. And I'm at peace with it.

I truly hope all works out. I love a good happy ending to stories like this.
