lol its all good and yea at first I didn't realize how much more efficient a turbo was vs a s/c for my car I thought it was mainly because everyone was a really big fan of turbos

heres a technical question.....how is a stock engine l 36 the one I have able to handle 400 whp +? is it the high compression rate compared to the l67? because my buddy keeps insisting that I have to do some work on both and trans and I keep telling him my engine is strong just like you have told me multiple times.....hes a mechanic so before I came here he taught me some knowledge of cars lol

trust me, your buddy doesn't know what the 3800 knowledge on this site knows.

a boosted l36 will handle 400whp just fine with a good tune.

yes it has a bit higher compression than an l67 but it's still relatively low.

trust us. your engine will be fine.

shit, i run an L36 intake manifold on top of my L67...

3800 is just one of those engines that can take a beating. Its the same way with the srt4 blocks and the cobalt lsj/lnf blocks. You can double stock power levels and still not blow the block AS LONG AS ITS TUNED CORRECTLY.


Transmissions are a different story

No idea, a few short years ago I was as uninformed as you about these turds. After reading a shitton of threads like this one and hearing many people say the same about these engines over the years I am confident they can handle more than I would ever put into a fwd car.

L36 has a better feel to it than the l67 with the turbo, having used both in a turbo application the l36 feels like it has a faster spool and better midrange tq and yeah it will hold up just fine at 500-600whp and beyond if all the balance mods are done
