Try using a spare board to clamp the trim down instead of the clamps possibly digging into the trim when tight.

The part that touches the wood is soft rubber and it’s oak, I used the same wood to make steps and my kids walk on them with rocks and shit stuck in their shoes it’s pretty hard

So I tried to stain the counter top with water based stain since I was planning to epoxy it, supposedly you can’t epoxy over oil based stain for like 7 days, It looked like hell blotchy and just straight shit, lucky I realized this after doing just a small area so I don’t have to sand my whole countertop down, going to plan B good old oil based stain and poly

I've had good luck with the 3x poly from Menards. Works great if your looking for that epoxy deep look. I put 4 coats on my coffee tables and they're holding up great. Another thing to consider is food safety, some are better than others on that respect.

Roughed after coat 2 with 220 lightly then 400 to even it out
