This style of solar roof has been around for a while but the problem has been cost. They were priced too high to recoup the cost through energy savings. Sounds like GAF wants to make the cost more manageable?

I was thinking about how the government wants to go green and spend trillions on it. How about they subsidize the cost of these roofs to make them the same price as normal 3-Tab or Architectural roofs? Insurance company is replacing my roof now. IF these were available for the same price (after subsidies), I'd definitely get one. That 1.7 trillion would probably cover roof subsidies for most of the country. It would help normal people a lot more than the programs they want to finance now and would practically solve the green energy question logically. Of course, electric companies would strongly fight it and it's hard to tax solar energy.
