So, the computer market is FUCKED right now. Between shortages, and asshole scalpers GPU prices are double to triple what they should be, even on last gen hardware.
My co-worker wanted me to put together a few system recommendations from budget to wild. I can't even come up with a basic price point because of the GPU prices and CPU shortages.
The CPU's aren't as bad stock wise if you want to run a cheaper intel chip or a 3000 series Ryzen. But the AMD 5000 series stuff is vaporware.
Fucking 2070 Supers are going for $1000+ at times.
Guy at our Roselle office asked me about building a computer for his kid since his kid's friends are all now PC gamers and swore off consoles. So, the computer market is FUCKED right now. I'm still rocking the 4770k you helped me put together. Other than adding memory, some SSD's, and a CoolerMaster CPU fan it is the same build. Speaking of which, I really need to power it down, open it up, and clean the dust out of the case and power supplies.See, this is one of those times where I really want to support Team Red. When non-intel can come up with a competing, and even Winning product I like to buy non-intel. Its not always the case that anyone can compete with Intel because they have a huge Fab advantage.
On either side of the 10850k you have the 5600x, and the 5800x.
The 5600x is nearly identical, except 4 less cores. And the 5800x is still down by 2 cores, but dominates it.
That said, I'm just going 5900x when they finally come down to reasonable pricing. I'm not dead in the water, so I'll wait.
So,USB Thumb drive speeds like Whoah.
Picked it up for work, need a USB drive I can send out with laptop replacements for work. I'm putting a custom Powershell script on it for Profile transfers and wanted something with fast write speeds.

Corsair's Flash Voyager GTX series brings SSD controllers to the flash drive market. Coupling it with a SATA - USB 3.0 bridge allows them to set benchmark records for their product line. More importantly, it brings some unique features. The rest of the review will present the DAS (direct-attached storage) benchmark numbers from our evaluation of the 256GB version, along with a few observations.
The Flash Voyager GTX is also recognized by Corsair's SSD Toolbox. One of the interesting facts revealed by the toolbox is the firmware version, S9FM01.7. A cursory search of the version number on the Internet reveals that the controller in the flash drive is the Phison S9. Readers might remember the previous generation Phison S8 controller being used in the Corsair Force Series LS SSD. It is heartening to see that the SSD controller along with the flash chips and the SATA - USB 3.0 bridge can be packed in such a small form factor.
When you have this many disks....That sucks but thanks for reminding me thst I need to setup email alerts myself.

I currenltly have 6x 256GB in RaidZ1, before this disk failed, I was considering moving to a simple mirrored 2TB array. two 2TB SSDs. But just hadn't justified the cost, its not like 6x SSD's use all that much power. It was mostly to gain back 4 bays in the NAS.I still want to get myself one of those ssd flash drives lol
Nope, that was a HBA card that died due to heat, which turned out to be a common problem for those cards as the heat sink is not large enough, and there is no fan on it. So I fixed that by adding a fan for active cooling.Didn’t a backplane start to go out like two years ago?
Also, I’d help pitch in for upgrade costs, as always.
