So the fact that we are probably getting a dozen or so chickens is what prompted this as a place to put all of the shenanigans that happen "out west" here in Belvidere. Between having 5 large breed dogs, a few guinea pigs, a couple kids and a wife...I have no money left for a fun car any more

The current project is figuring out how to build a chicken coop/run for a dozen chickens out of all this pallet wood and also where to put it so that in the winter I don't have to go way out in the yard to take care of the damn things.

Going to do a chicken tractor for them out of like PVC to mover it around daily, or just letting them free range during the day and see what happens?

Free range and hope for the best. My wife doesn't work in the summer, so that should help a decent bit. Planning on making a big enough coop and run where we can leave them in there for extended periods if need be as well.

It's been too shitty outside to start on the actual coop. I have the wood set off to the side so I can start when it is nicer. Last night I got the brooder box made. Chicks ETA is a couple hours now, so updated pic tonight I'm sure. My kids are slowly losing their minds about these things and we don't even have them yet. They were amazed that they get mailed to the store where we go pick them up at.
