đź’¸ For Sale MTD 13HP 38” Riding Mower

Been in the family since new. Cleaned after every other use and waxed a few times per season but it’s dusty from sitting in the garage. New blades only used for 3 mowings. Newer coil. Replaced parts randomly every year just to try and keep it in shape. Got some random new parts around for it I think.

The bad is it won’t start.Started getting harder to start and then stopped starting and kicks back when trying to start. Maybe the valves need adjustment or the flywheel key? First time I’ve had a problem with it. The gear for the steering is like pressed steel so the steering isn’t the tightest. I’ve replaced it before and it’s just a loose design cause it didn’t help. The safety switch for the deck is iffy on it. Supposedly they go out all the time so I didn’t replace it because you can just pull the deck handle back a hair further and it’ll crank no issues then.

Only reason I’m not going to tear into it to fix whatever the no start bounce back issue is I got a bigger, better, faster, tighter turn radius, Cub Cadet from my brother and I want it out of the way before I go grab some random bigger motor to slap into it to just rip around on.

$300 obo located in Lombard.

I don’t have a way to transport it but there is a bigger hill down the road we could roll it to if you have some heavier duty boards to roll it into a truck bed or something.

For anyone considering this, there’s a 99% chance this is a valve adjustment related issue. Very common on this generation of Vanguard engine. Easy YouTube DIY for the job.

yeah that’s what I found online but when my brother offered up his so he has the space for a new electric one I was like fuck it and just rolled it into the garage to sit

Ok no worries. If it was something smaller I’d just say fuck it and keep it until I got time to try and play with it and make it something fun. But right now I’ve got 2 of the 3 cars I want in the garage for the snow sitting outside so something’s gotta get throw outside

Here how about this. $100 anyone wants to come get it this Thursday cause that’s when I’ll be working on cleaning the garage out again.

As long as you got a pickup and some longer boards that can support it loading won’t be a problem. There’s a hill down the street you can back a pickup up to and use the boards to bridge the gap. We can tow it down there with my newer mower.
