You would be surprised how people accumulate shit living in a house for decades. The dumpstering I have done for a mere dozen years......

I furnished a lot of my home on auction furniture. Pricey stuff sold for pennies on the dollar. Sleep number bed in like new condition for $200. Couch for $20. Like new mid level convection range for $110. Really nice dining room set for $100. Sharper Image massage chair for $90. $1,400 brand new, never used fridge for $600. Multi thousands when new. People don't bid on it because they don't want to figure out how to transport it. If it's heavy, it goes cheap. Pay the auction company $50 and they deliver it to your door.

At the same time, stupid stuff like a ceramic giraffe goes for a couple hundred. Guns go for way more than you could buy them used online. People have no concept of value.
