Add in the driver's aid like lane keep, and set distance cruise control and it makes things even worse. That tech helps the strain on your mind as you're driving. New cars are "neat" as some of you young kids say.
Shame. Disconnection with the road
I hate all that shit. It’s super annoying to drive with all these things yelling at you when you’re not actually doing anything.
I do actually use the adaptive cruise on the highlander and wish my SHO had it.

The lane departure did wake me up a time or 2 not gunna lie...

You just said shame to all of it and then said you use it and wish the SHO had it…

Lane keep always beeping when you’re going past an intersection or some unique lines. Freaking the fuck out in a double turn lane because there’s a car next to you. There’s a spot on the highway where a light pole sticks out a bit more than the barriers and I’ve had the brakes come on on passing it. I’ve also had it where it’ll freak out when someone pretty decently ahead of you hits the brakes to make a right turn.

My wife side swiped a pole just enough to scratch her bumper because the spot was so tight it was just beeping and beeping so she ignored all of it

I do like 360 cameras. That’s about it.

Some have lane keep and lane follow. Different brands have different names of course. But same kind of function. Lane keep is where it keeps you inside the lines when you get too close to them. And also beeps at you before it takes over the wheel. Where are lane follow keeps you in the center of the lane.

In my Hyundai, I use lane follow almost every time I drive. It does a great job. Since it works well, the lane keep doesn't ever come into play or beep at me. I also almost always have at least a finger on the steering wheel. If I need to nudge it over or take over for whatever reason. At these are driving aids and not level 4 self-driving features.

Heck, I'd do the same in a self-driving Tesla. There are plenty of videos that show them come up to things like garbage cans on the side of the road. Where they are on the line or just over. And the car veers wildly to the left into the other lane. It's just not tweaked for every scenario out there. Best to keep a hand on the wheel lol

I want to try a better system like GM's supercruise. Or any Mercedes version as I hear is incredible.

My experience is solely with new Hyundais so we’re in the same experience boat. Fuck all of it (except cameras )

That is the whole point. Let your mind be at ease as the vehicle is doing all those micro adjustments keeping the car in the middle of the lane and at a set distance from the car in front of you. All those small adjustments save your mind from doing them. Helping with fatigue.

I hate the lane assistance in my Wagoneer. It starts shaking the wheel when you get to close to the divider line. I got that shit turned off
But one night late with not much traffic, I set the adaptive cruise, lane assist and other tech shit on 90 from Lawrence to Barrington Rd. It basically drove itself lol

I think you're doing it worng.

And if the Lane Keep is yelling at you all the time, it means you're on the white or yellow lines all the time.

And set distance cruise control is amazing and you don't use it at all :bowrofl:

I'm not sure of they systems on Jeeps, but usually one follows the lane and one is a "Hey dummy, your about to run off the road" feature. Seems you definitely have the later. haha

I am the same way. For work, I take RT53 to RT56 for several miles. Lane keep and cruise control and it basically drives itself. I can be hands-free for about 3 minutes before it tells me to keep my hand on the wheel. Slightly pull on the wheel and I can go another 3 minutes. But as I mentioned, I keep at least a finger on the wheel just in case.

I still wont let it park itself. Every time Ive tried to use it, I have to hit the brakes to override it as it gets close af and I'm afraid of it hitting the car next to me
I've never had a vehicle with that. I am not sure I would use it either. The risk of it hitting something isn't worth it. I hate paying for my own mistakes. I don't want to pay for some programmer's mistake. haha

I’ve tried the cruise when I had the genesis. Meh. Just don’t like cruise control I don’t know

Legit like every time I next to some segmented white line it yells in the Tucson. In the genesis it would just go white on that side (presumably because there’s nothing to read)

I'm pretty good about not using my phone when driving. So that isn't an issue. I still pay attention. Even though I am not doing as much with the throttle, brakes, and steering, I still keep my eye on the road and cycling my eyes from the road and mirrors. Because I know the other people on the road are still a big danger to me. Safety features or not.

I don't trust it enough to have no hands on the wheel and be watching my phone. Not sure I could do that with a self driving Tesla either. Not sure I'm ready for that.

It not "seeing" line is an issue for sure. It can have issues with that in snow and heavy rain. So it beeps at you to take over the wheel. Or just do nothing and be like "Jeasus take the wheel!"

He’s lying. It’s making society lazy and “bored” so they think they can do other shit while “driving”.

Just drive your fucking cars. Though with these older people their eyesight is probably already shit so having the car keep an eye on things is probably a good idea. I take it back.

The Tucson is worlds more advanced than the Genesis was even being 5 years newer. Just seems so fucking sensitive
The genesis seemed heavy handed with the lane follow and steering you vs the Tucson which is gentler with it.

I swear I’m in my lane like 90% of the time.

Nah, I am well aware of how distracted I could be on my phone if I let myself use it while driving. Because I see how poorly others drive when they are on their phones. lol

Also, Myth Busters showed me.
