About 5000 miles ago the dealer replaced both upper strut mount on my GXP under extended GMPP warranty because that were creaking while turning. No big deal right? Ever since then I have been having weird suspension noises that they can not duplicate such as a loud "pop" when I would back out of my garage and another noise while turning. Tonight I pulled into the garage and while making a hard right turn to pull in I head a super loud pop noise and this is what I got.........

That would the the top of the strut shaft that broke in two pieces right at the bottom of the nut I dunno how the fuck this could have happened other then the tech impacted the shit out of that nut and made a small fracture in the shaft and it just finally broke .Looks like a tow to the dealer and some bitching is in order tomorrow.:fyws::fu:

I brought the nut and top threaded part of the strut to the dealer today and found out that the stock replacement Bilstein is $555.00:angrys00ls:. They looked up my warranty paper work and my extended warranty had expired 200 miles ago and also the dealer was not gonna take any blame for this. So I was mad as hell but the dealer called the GMPP warranty rep and got the new strut okay'd. Everything is good not and I have to wait till Tuesday for a new strut. The GMPP also coveres $75 for a tow.

My blower motor went out a couple years ago on a 5 degree day, warranty expired. At that point the blower motor had failed, the Onstar antenna was leaking, the strut mounts were making noise, the radio had stopped working and it had a slew of additional problems. The dealer tried selling me a G8 while the GP was in for service but they were so bad at following up that three weeks later I still had their rental car and couldn't get a response from them.

I ended up writing the district GM a letter explaining how shitty my car was, how shitty the dealership was and how pissed off I was. I got a call a couple days later explaining that everything was fixed and covered. I just had to pay for the actual blower. All labor was free and all of the other parts were paid for.

You can get replacement Bilstein struts from allshocks.com for $161.85. That is a complete ripoff from the stealership.

I called them as well and Bilstein and the factory GM Bilstein struts have different valving rather then the after market Bilstein struts. They are close but not the same.

Dude, the GXP has it's little problems that you can deal with, it's a driving machine. It is the #1 car i have ever had the pleasure of owning, and i've owned everything. I now own 20 of these cars and love each and everyone of them the same.

Sincerely,

- Weird dude from CGP that's obsessed with GXP's
