Did Dasfinc earn a profit from the sale?

Its figurative. I wanted $1800 from the explorer, but between gas (4 trips out to Ottawa), insurance, and the original plate/tax/title from when I got the explorer, I probably profited under $100 realistically. I GOT the explorer for a good deal, that is what I 'profited' from, but again, is aside from the topic.

eagle. if a friend you knew got ripped off by dasfinc, wouldnt you be aggravated?

When you buy a used car, its YOUR problem once the title is signed over. If you're not intelligent enough to know what you're looking at/for, then you should have the car checked by a mechanic. Would I be aggravated? Probably. But its still the buyers problem.

If you made money on the deal, then it is your problem for selling a bum car, you are not free of guilt, but it is a used car.....

I KNOW I am not 'free of guilt', but I did NOT sell a car with a leaking transmission, nor did I know there were vicegrips attached to the heater core. As mentioned, had they called me, or made some effort of contact, I would have GLADLY helped in some way, I am not the kind of person to say 'Tough luck, deal with it' I feel guilty because even at $2200, I was 'lucky' to get that much out of a taurus with 143K on the clock, and don't like that its falling apart on them.

Back when GTP Mike got the accord that had a dead motor *I sold it for $100? $150?, with him understanding that the motor may not be any good. In the end I thought it was just a headgasket, or something small since they are strong motors, but the motor was toast*, I offered to help source a new one. Me and mike had since hung out a bunch after this point in time so it was clear he did not begruge me for this. I know he is still not a fan of me lately due to a separate situation, which is understandable as I handled that poorly.

You done here Das? This thread makes no sense.

When you buy a used car, its YOUR problem once the title is signed over. If you're not intelligent enough to know what you're looking at/for, then you should have the car checked by a mechanic. Would I be aggravated? Probably. But its still the buyers problem.

This is why I created the thread essentially. I wanted to see if people would say what you said above, or if they'd say I intentionally ripped someone off over this specific situation.

i agree. the buyers of the car are taking it as a loss, and will get the repairs taken care of the proper way when money is available. they arent asking for money back, nor do they want to return the car. it's done and over with.
this doesnt mean other forum members who are potential buyers of a car being sold by dasfinc shouldnt know. if you bought a used turbo that was claimed to be in mint condition, for big money, then found out after it's junk....wouldnt you want to warn others from buying stuff from the seller?

This is not quite the same situation. I was in all honesty a middle man, and that is why I feel guilty. The car obviously has issues arising, but I was not aware of them, and that is why I don't like taking a 'bad wrap' over it.

If I sold my ranger and something such as this situation occured, I would call BS as I basically built the truck top to bottom, but this is not the case, this is a car I had for a month that I was not familiar with, and did no work on, and sold it as how I saw it.

If a buddy of yours TRADED you a turbo and told you it was flawless for something of yours that he wanted of lesser value, would you mount the turbo to a car to test if it burned oil before selling it on his word alone? You sell the turbo and it is ripping through oil and get blamed for it being bum. It wouldn't be fair for either side, and thats the bottom line, it isn't.

you sold the car, which means it's your reputation on the line.

I sold a car that leaked/burned nothing, and had seemingly no issues. Had the car had symptoms of leaks, I would have tried resolving them prior to sale, or made the buyer aware of them and priced the car accordingly. My reputation was not into question until things that were unforeseeable to me arose, that is my 'beef' with the situation.
