Lukes rev fest?

I hope that the "rev-fest" can be curbed.
This is what happened to the Hanover Park Tradewinds plaza cruise night a few years back. Many folks who attended were laid back. It was a very nice cruise night. Then the word got around to the rev/bump crowd and the swarmed the place with stupidity. The hosts curbed most of it for a while but the rev/bump crowd got upset that everytime they did a rev or would not turn their stereo's down, they were asked to leave. They would feel insulted that intelligence over-ruled their stupidity and they would "race" away.
Problem is it was through the Dominicks side of the parking lot. People complained that the morons were flying through the parking lot coming close to hitting them, their shopping carts, and their cars. The police and plaza owners then stopped the cruise nights.

The night I was at Lukes, everyone seemed to behave just fine.

Some things you might want to try to help reduce the stupidity factor:
See if the police department would park a car in the lot near the entrance or road.
Make posts on the other websites that this kind of behavior is not allowed and that you are working with the local police and having "bouncers" to stop it.
Have a couple of folks volunteer to be "bouncers". After a week or two of asking them to cut it out or leave, They may go elsewhere.
Roselle cruise night has off-duty police officers and community service officers (in uniform) volunteer in patrolling the cruise night. As soon as someone does something stupid they usually get swarmed by 3-4 of them. I have seen them sternly ask stupid people to leave. Seems to keep the riff-raff down just having them walk around. Might be an option if you talk with the police department and the owner of Lukes.

You could just walk up to those doing it and with respect, introduce yourself, ask about their cars and then explain what their actions might do to the cruise and the fun for all. We were all young and stupid with cars once and its up to those who have been through it to "school" the next generation on how not to act the fool and screw it up for the others. Plus, you get to meet a lot of good people you wouldn't have otherwise.

When you isolate others you are isolating yourself.

as i stated in the 1st "saturday" looks.......i will stick with the old fogies because they know how it used to be.......it's sad that a group of guys want to have a night out with their buddies and their cars and have ignorance ruin it.

this is why i take my car out early on sunday mornings when no one else is around, cruise the country roads, and then park it before the morons come out.

with all do respect, how can you say that with a straight face ?? i'm only 28, so i'm not an "elder" by any means, but its how you were brought up. if you were taught right from wrong then you know not to be an ass hat.
sure, it sounds like i'm preaching religion, but its the truth, the younger crowd nowadays has too much of the wrong "reality" portrayed through music and TV.

i bought my camaro when i was 20, and i never acted like an idiot in a parking lot crowded with people. did i exceed 55 mph ? sure, on the highway. when i lived in the city people used to fly down the alley and the side street i lived on, why ? just to slam on the breaks for the next stop sign ?

people are stupid, this is why i hate people. :fy:

First off, I suppose I should say thanks for your concern. However, I can assure you that not only do the CPD regularly patrol the lot with marked and unmarked cars and onduty/offduty officers but we also have our own folks in the lot working on keeping things at a low roar. We also have a very close partnership with the business owner who is inboard with enforcing the rules we set forth.

Rather than being quite as rigid and unaccepting of the people you're referencing, we try to cut them some slack and allow them to ALSO do the things which they enjoy about their cars. If it gets out of hand we have no issue handling them as required to get any offensive behavior to stop.

Finally, everyone should just remember that it takes all types of people to make this car hobby we all enjoy to really work. Try to be a bit more open minded.

It wouldn't hurt to attend more often either. :D

open minded = not having only gto's or only grand prix's or only F-bodies,
to each their own and a "car" guy is a "car guy, no matter what he drives.

hell, someone had a black night runner ram the night i went and thought, shit i remember seeing this @ the auto show.

BUT
open minded doesnt mean being the least bit tolerant of idiots. let me know how open minded you are when that guy gets away with being an idiot and then side swipes a cop car............lukes will be shit canned and those tolerant car guys will be SOL

Ever think of asking the retards to stop? If it bothers some of you that much, what's stopping you from opening your mouth?

Don't whine about something you're not going to do anything about. It's a public parking lot. People are going to get stupid sometimes. It's part of the atmosphere. This isn't some goddamn country club parking lot.

That person who side swipes the car will have their consequences.

There WAS one red 300Z that I was about to chase down last night... but by the time I turned around to go find him he was already 1/2 way out of the lot.

Police Chief Daniel Callahan identified the deceased as Cory McIlvaine of Tuscola Avenue in the Valley View area of St. Charles Township. He said McIlvaine was driving south about 1:23 a.m. when his 1995 Oldsmobile crossed the center line and hit an oncoming 2006 Ford F-250 truck.

Definitely not one of the cars that was in the Lukes lot. That and it happened WAY after most people had left.

Thanks for finding that Dave!

Additionally....

As Ry@n asked, when is the last time YOU approached someone doing something you didn't like @ Lukes?

I've done this SEVERAL times and 99% of the time people understand and chill. Even the group of bump trucks on 20+ wheels that were making racket two weeks back calmed it down when I asked them to. You'll also notice that only one of their trucks showed up last night...

Listen people. Lukes is all about the people. If PEOPLE dont like what other PEOPLE are doing then they should walk over, introduce themselves and see what can be done to do something about it.

who's going to walk up to the vato's with the tinted windows in an escalade,

excuse me mr. please turn that rap music down.............lmao

Vatos? WTF man. Have some damn respect. I'm certain most of those trucks have quite a bit of money in them and are well done vehicles... they just make MUSIC rather than HP. Relax.

I walked up to them. So did the owner of Lukes. So did CPD. They took it down a notch each time.
