I'm good for another 15k. Just bring a 5 quart jug ( I cleaned out an oil jug) and brought it to Schaumburg Subaru and asked for 5 quarts. I think it was like $5 a quart. Best way to get it.

do they make an inexpensive psi gauge to replace the oem one?

this is the latch im looking for. the top one.

any idea what the 60,000 maint. from a stealership would run me?

where are you out of joel? i was thinkin of meeting up (do you go to luke's often?) and having you give the car a look over and tell me if you spot anything im gonna have to fix. like right now at certain speeds it sounds like i have a pinion bearing making noise, but i dont know for sure, my first subbie.

I'd just go to the dealer if you only need that little clip.

60k service will run you a lot at the dealer. You're better off going to like p&l or ds1 for maintenance intervals.

I'm in crystal lake and go to lukes sometimes. Does your noise show up when decelerating or light throttle in 4th/5th gear between 55-65?

yep. kind of a high pitch wine. i was thinking maybe just the gears in the tranny, then i thought about the front diff. there is a front diff right?

Yes theres a front diff and a center diff all inside the trans.

It's actually a documented problem from subaru on the 04/05's. Mine does it and it's amplified by the rock solid diff bushings I put in. They have a "fix" for it but the parts are like $50.I don't think it was an actual recall.

mine whined quite a bit most of the time also, but i also had harder bushings and a hardened sti gearset.

also, if you can find one, Omori makes a 45mm boost gauge in PSI that SHOULD fit into the stock gauge pod, but you really gotta work it in there.

are turbo blankets of any worth on a stock setup? i know they are there to cut down on engine bay temps? i was just curious due to the face that the intercooler is so close to it.

last post for the night. probably think of so more questions tomorrow. if i get a chance, im gonna try to do some more reading on nasioc tomorrow. is most of the info on there legit, or is it like ls1tech (pissing match with missing info)?

That's the uppipe I'm running. Also installed one on a friends 02. Works fine.

I'd pass on the headers. Equal length headers make it sound like a Honda IMO. Plus I don't think it's a huge gain in hp on a stock turbo. Uppipe, downpipe, catback and tune are going to be worth roughly 50whp though

Huh? I'm not selling a dp. The one i just posted a link for has been on my car for like a year and a half. Both the uppipe and downpipe fit and work great. You should buy both then we can put the mailorder tune I have on your car and it'll be fun

No it's not locked at all.
Subarus have this wonderful thing called opensource tuning. The cable is only $165 and the software is free.

Why were you asking about the heat shield?
Is there any benefit to putting a turbo blanket on with the heat shield? I mean aside from lower engine bay temps?

Was wondering cause if it was missing or looked like it's been off then it most likely has been modded at one time. That's all.

I would assume a blanket would keep temps down but I've never heard of anyone putting one on a stock turbo. The heat shield does alright blocking a lot of heat. I need to put mine back on.

No. I'd take it kinda easy till we get the tune on there but I drove with just uppipe/downpipe and stock tune for like a month. My car drives just like stock till I get on it.
