not true on any level....although v-power and the amoco ultimate are a cleaner fuel, running premium has nothing to do with it. always running a top-tier fuel will help with the injector problems, but the main problem is sedement in the tank/corrosion in the fuel system, that get past the sock, and fuel filter and can't pass through the tiny holes in the injectors.....:dunno:

x2 most notable the varnish that collects in the rails as the heat soaked fuel chills after the engine's shutoff....i'm seeing a fairly large surge of clogged injectors especially in these new fangled returnless systems....there's way less fuel flow to flush crap back to the tank.

btw dont forget that federal laws prevent fuel companies from adding cleansing agents to only high octane rating fuel, they are required to have the same compounds in all their grades...they are all just additive packages...and a bit of marketing bs

thanks much to all you for your replies and advise. ive been so busy at work, doing 10 hour days that i havent been on line at all, not even to check my mail. anyway im out of warranty now, 68,900 and of course now i have a problem. one is the fan speed. it doesnt work on speeds 1 and 2, just 3, 4, 5. it seems thats common but the fix isnt easy. lots of labor. can someone confirm that? my other question is that in morning (cold start) he chirps until he warms up. (he is the car of course lol). GM said didnt chirp for them. any advice please send my way. and thanks to all of you. being disabled i cant do much for myself.

it's likely the resister unit but can sometimes be the switch in the hvac unit or wiring...

it's not to difficult to pull the resister/speed control and check for burned traces....

the chirp could be the belt against a pulley or a dry pulley bearing...alot of times i find that lots of small road pebbles/debris end up forced into the belt grooves and can cause an intermittent chirp if it's not to bad i just use a pic and pop each bastard out...but.... i'm a jew (just for you edsel lmfao)

The fan speed control problem is because of your ignition switch. It happens when carbon builds up on the assembly from lots of short trips (lots of starts/stops). It's not THAT bad to fix. Part is under a hundred, and it's all in the column and a little under the dash. It can also be taken apart and cleaned, but it's a bitch to do and wouldn't reccomend it.

^^^^ not a blower motor resistor????

99% of the time it's the ignition swtch. Sometimes the resistor will limp it along, but it's still the ign switch. If you ever took one apart you would know what I'm talking about. It's pretty gay, but GM engineers decided to have a tumbler with 6 seperate contacts for a bunch of essential things in the car...guess they never heard of relays.

ive changed hundreds of resisitors, and NEVER had an ign switch be the root cause of a blower motor problem........guess ya learn something everyday.....anymore info on this ron?

actually i just pulled the wiring diagrams for both manual and auto hvac....the ign switch isnt on the bus with the blower controls. the only way i could see an ignition switch causing an issue, is it the serial data line went down, but it wouldnt work at all (in an auto system)....the resisitor acts as a relay, and pulls the power down (adds resistance) which causes it to work on lower speeds, if the resistor fails, it will work on high speeds, or certain speeds (most often it only works on high).....

id be willing to bet the labor that it's the resistor, or at worst, a control head issue....:bigthumb:

oh boy you guys are way ahead of me. im soooooooo lost here. going backwards, the chirp noise disappears after a while. usually after the engine is warm. the fan speed threw me though. my bf said i prolly burned out speeds 1 and 2 cuz i used them more. not sure if that is true. is anyone inerested in looking at my car. or if i buy i parts installing them and for how much? some people want a family doctor. i want a mechanic i can trust:bowdown:
