I am of the mindset that one is better off being the contractor of his/her own home renovations and overseeing the scheduling of the different companies him/herself (electrical, plumbing, floors, counters, windows, whatever).

Going through a contractor is painful.

My neighbor is a lawn mower connoisseur and repairs them in his retirement. His wifi is literally "lawnmowerman" I was in the middle of mowing, stopped, and talked to him for a bit and I said "I think its a 90s or early 2000s.
