3800 MUFFLERS

So this guy came into my work today.. He had my same car.. 2001 GTP but 4 door.. He had a High Flow car and 3' pipes.. NO MUFFLERS.. I was going to run that but I was talked out of it.. So his car was a BIT louder than mine.. He said you get more power with them off.. I was told something about Back Pressure, thats why I did the Magna-Flows.. what do you think.. I know someone out there has to be running with no mufflers.. would I lose power or gain some???

I always heard that no back pressure that u lose power this guy obvisouly didnt know what he was talking about....

no mufflers=lose back pressure=delta pressure= lose some of the jump off the line

mufflers=gain a bit of top end power cause of nen restrictive exhaust flow, but unless u got dhp to remove the speed limiter ur best bet is mufflers.....

if u want the best of both worlds use mufflers with a cut-out...... w-body store sells an awesome system i have on my car its an electronic cutout.... open exhaust at the flip of a switch.... gotta love it.

for normal driving the mufflers will stop the atmospheric back pressure. the you use the electric cutout for racing because you are always on it while you are racing so you get a little bit better flow.

sorry i just re-read my response and i messed up some stuff..... my mind was going faster than my fingers! here is what i meant!

WBS has never sold one and is not on the site as we speak,im confused as well and depending on your set you will lose lowend power, it helps with turbos to spool
so that is more off the line power

off topic a little ...but those are kinda junk...most people have had loads of probs with QTP. this is more on cars that have driven with them for more then a year and threw winter at least once..most changed over to DMH(summit,cartuning) and are issue free. im getting one before my cat this summer.
